

At home on the stage and in the classroom, tenor Ryan Landis enjoys a versatile career as a performing artist and educator.

On the operatic stage, his roles include The Magician in The Consul, Rinnucio in Gianni Schicchi, Johnny Inkslinger in Paul Bunyan, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, Parpignol in La bohème, Léon in Signor Deluso, and the world premiere of Amir Zaheri’s Look Upon These Faces. He has made appearances with the Natchez Festival of Music, The Black Hills Playhouse, the University of Alabama Opera Theatre, and the University of South Dakota Opera.

Additional musical theatre stage credits include the roles of Father in Chess, Sir Dinadan in Camelot, Pharaoh and Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Anselmo in Man of La Mancha.

Ryan’s concert and oratorio repertoire includes performances of the tenor solos in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mendelssohn's, Elijah, Ramirez’s Missa Criolla, Pergolesi’s Magnificat, and “Let’s Fall in Love!” a Valentine’s Day Pops Concert with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra.

He has served as the Stage Management Coordinator and with the Red River Lyric Opera, and as Assistant Director for their productions of Giulio Cesare and La Calisto. Ryan has also served on the faculty, and as administrator, of the Druid City Opera Workshop. Additionally, he has directed Opera Scenes for the University of Alabama Opera Theatre.​

He has earned degrees from The University of Alabama (D.M.A.), the University of South Dakota (M.M.), and UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (B.A.).
